About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead who can combine strong software engineering skills with technical leadership.

You will work closely with Product, AI, Data, and Business teams to turn product vision into scalable, reliable, and maintainable technology.

This is not a pure people-management role. We are looking for someone who still enjoys coding, system design, code reviews, technical problem-solving, and building products.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

• Own and drive technical architecture, engineering standards, and technology direction.
• Design scalable and maintainable systems to support rapid business and user growth.
• Make sound technical trade-offs between speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Establish engineering best practices around coding standards, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Identify and proactively address technical debt, bottlenecks, and system risks.

1. Hands-on Engineering

• Stay hands-on and contribute directly to core features and critical technical components.
• Design and develop APIs, backend services, databases, and system integrations.
• Review code and ensure high-quality technical delivery.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and stability.

1. AI & Product Engineering

• Work closely with Product and AI teams to bring AI-powered features into production.
• Contribute to solutions such as:
• AI-powered parenting insights
• Personalized recommendations
• AI agents and workflow automation
• Family intelligence and behavioral insights
• AI-assisted mentor workflows
• Evaluate and adopt technologies such as LLMs, AI APIs, RAG, vector databases, and agent frameworks where appropriate.
• Build systems for AI monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

1. Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Provide technical guidance, task prioritization, and engineering mentorship.
• Set clear engineering standards, goals, and expectations.
• Build a culture of ownership, speed, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with engineers to remove technical blockers and improve delivery.

1. Product & Business Partnership

• Partner closely with Product Managers to assess technical feasibility, complexity, and trade-offs.
• Participate in product discovery and provide technical input early in the process.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Balance MVP speed with long-term scalability.
• Proactively identify technology opportunities that can create meaningful product and business impact.

  Requirements

  Must-have

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with experience as a Tech Lead, Senior Engineer, or Engineering Lead.
  • Strong hands-on coding skills and a solid software engineering foundation.
  • Proven experience designing and building scalable backend systems.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Node.js.
  • Solid experience with System design
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with Product and Business stakeholders.
  • Product-oriented mindset with a strong focus on business impact.

  Nice to Have

  • Experience building AI/ML-powered products.
  • Experience withLLM / Generative 
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience building B2C or consumer-facing products.
  • Background in EdTech, Parenting, Healthcare, FinTech, or other personalized consumer products.
  • Startup or high-growth environment experience.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to accelerate software development, debugging, documentation, research, and engineering workflows.
  • Strong critical thinking and the ability to validate and challenge AI-generated outputs rather than relying on them blindly.
